Transfer PC from ATX to Mini ITX size
Transfer PC from ATX to Mini ITX size
I'm considering reducing my PC's size from its current ATX build to a Mini ITX form factor. Right now I have the NZXT H1 case which looks like a good value and simplifies things. I want to retain as much of my existing setup as possible, even the old 970 model. The original specs are: CPU I7-6700K, GPU GTX 970, 16GB RAM, plus an SSD and HDD, and a RM750X PSU. If I can fit everything from the old PC into the Mini ITX, it would save costs. Any advice would be appreciated.
What CPU cooler do you have on hand? Here are some options you might find useful:
- Silverstone SG13 v2 mini ITX tower case (silverstone-sg13-v2-mini-itx)
- Silverstone case STS G13 WB (sstsg13wb)
- Silverstone SG13 v2 mini ITX tower case (czfmp6-silverstone-sg13-v2-mini-itx)
With the board change, you might prefer switching to a newer platform. Your existing board still gets a solid price in the used market. You could also consider a very compact ATX model such as the Riotoro CR1080—it's roughly the same size as standard ITX cases.
It occurred to me, yet there were no issues at all—it's functioning well now. In reality, I mainly use the PC when I'm back home from university; I just need it a bit more compact. The Air 540 is currently quite spacious, which surprised me, but I agree with you. I might look into it later to see if I can locate the box and components.
