I’m setting up a fresh gaming PC this week. My old machine still runs Windows 7, and I want to move some games over to the new SSD. On the software side, I’m unsure how to create a mirror image from my old drive to the new system, even though the hardware is different. Can I still boot from the old drive on the new PC? If not, what options exist?

If the setup was identical, you might be able to keep it without reinstalling. However, because it wasn't, you'll need to reinstall everything on the new machine.

I’d begin fresh since it’s quick, and someone might come up with a fix or simply check it out.

Thanks guys, I'll buy a new OS then, do you know if there is a way to move Steam games over to save the all the downloads again? or other games like Eve, BF4, WoF?

The activation key you can use again is probably the same one you already have. Just let them know your account stopped working because your device ran out of memory, and you ended up purchasing a new key—likely, your original one will still function.

the games you played on steam might work on your new pc without needing to download again, as steam offers an alternative method. you can transfer them to the new system.
