I don’t understand exactly what you’re trying to do, but I can help you transfer your data safely. Moving files from your old laptop to a new PC doesn’t have to involve the same HDD if you use an external drive or cloud storage. Let me know which method you prefer and I’ll guide you through it.

Reinstall it on the desktop. Then use the same key and it should function properly.

Transfer the drive and choose it from the boot options, then it should start up properly.

I prefer keeping the drive inside my laptop for Linux. It’s not a good storage option, so I just need to remove the operating system from it. I especially don’t want an SSD-sized HDD.
