Transfer data from HDD to SSD on Windows 10
You’ve already set up Windows 10, so you can simply perform a clean installation on the new SSD. The system will detect the device and start the process. Don’t worry about entering any passwords.
The best approach is definitely a fresh installation. It’s challenging to confirm its effectiveness since I haven’t tried it before.
Use Windows Media Creation Tool (available at http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-.../windows10). Launch it, choose 'Create installation media for another PC', even though it's for your current machine—this will let you swap the old HDD for a new SSD later. Follow the on-screen guidance to generate a USB or DVD with Windows 10. After completion, swap in your new SSD, connect the USB drive or insert the DVD, and boot from it.
