Traffic fluctuations occur several times per minute
About two weeks ago I began noticing sudden performance drops, especially in games. I ran tests across various titles to rule out server issues. Usually, the problem appears every 6–10 seconds, lasting about 4–5 seconds. It’s that frustrating moment when you press a button and it takes five seconds longer than expected. I suspected my new router might be the culprit, but I remembered similar issues before it was replaced. They were less frequent but still occurred mostly in the evenings. I checked the router settings, found Band Steering enabled, which resolved the problem temporarily, then it returned. I also tried a different Wi-Fi adapter and another dongle, but the lag persisted. Speed tests showed normal numbers, yet performance was clearly poor.
Not feasible? Keep your family together and enjoy a bachelor pad close to the router for gaming.
