I am seeking assistance regarding a gaming PC purchased from iBUYPOWER in September for $1,000 via Amazon. Initially, the computer displayed a critical error – CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED – followed by complete shutdown and failure to power on. I sent it in for repair under warranty, but the issue persisted after multiple returns. The PC continued to blue screen with errors like BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_INFO, despite repeated attempts at troubleshooting, including Startup Repair, Bcdedit / repairbcd, System Restore (with no available restore points), Chkdsk, and creating a recovery USB drive for reinstalling Windows on both the SSD and HDD. iBUYPOWER diagnosed the problem as an issue with the SSD and offered a replacement. However, even after installing Windows directly onto the hard drive, the blue screening continued. I’ve exhausted numerous online solutions and have contacted iBUYPOWER twice without success. My attempts to resolve this issue have been unsuccessful, and I'm unsure of what steps to take next. Your guidance would be extremely valuable in this situation.
Rename all folders in Windows System32config directory to avoid using them anymore. Rename the default config folder to DEFAULT, SAM, SECURITY, SYSTEM, SOFTWARE, and then copy the registry backups of each configuration to their respective locations. Restart your computer after completing these steps.
I have successfully the completed 1-4, but when it gets to step 5 I get an error "The system cannot find the file specified" after entering
copy C:\Windows\System32\config\RegBack\DEFAULT C:\Windows\System32\config\
I'm booting from a usb stick with the windows media creation tool on it
Ok have you tried installing windows to the hd and making it the boot drive?
