I need some guidance on upgrading my hardware and it involves a TPM module version 1.2. I’m aware that data protection measures are in place before clearing the TPM, but most sources focus on removing the TPM for a fresh OS installation. I’m replacing the chip from TPM1.2 to TPM2.0 and have already disabled security features like bit-lockers and Windows Hello sign-ins. My main concern is how to keep my data safe when switching from an old TPM to a new one on the same operating system. I was told it’s not possible because driver firmware restrictions prevent compatibility, forcing a complete OS reinstall with a new TPM2.0. Is this accurate? Do you have any suggestions or workarounds? Thank you.
