I own several ue300 usb gigabit Ethernet adapters for my laptop and iPad. The one I used for my iPad frequently hit 100mbps even though the connection was gigabit and the internet speed was 300mbps. When connected to my laptop, it remained stuck at 100Mbps despite a full gigabit link, and it worked fine with another identical adapter. Since the adapter is worn out, doesn’t have drivers, and I can’t find firmware updates—especially for an iPad—I’m unsure what steps I should take to resolve this issue.

To confirm the Ethernet adapter's speed limit, you should review the Network Adapters settings. A speed test online measures your overall internet connection, not just the adapter's performance.

Additionally, I used an Ethernet cable tester on all the wires linking my router to my desk. It showed that one of them wasn’t establishing a solid connection on the 8th pin, which I replaced and it resolved the issue completely.
