I’m just starting out with networking and often make mistakes when buying gear. The devices I purchased recently include a TP-Link TL-R605, two TPLink EAP 225 units, an OC 200, and a TL-SG1008P. I didn’t install a controller, only the APs. Should I add one? I’ve heard adopting a controller might limit some features. My current problems are: when logged into the controller, I want to set up a separate VLAN for my work laptop so it stays isolated from the rest of the network. I’m stuck because the only option is to create a new VLAN, not a new interface. Any advice?
