TP-Link R470T+ supports dual internet connections within a single network setup.
Hi, I have two internet links—one at 12Mb and another at 20Mb. I want to combine them for use on the same network. I currently have two Asus routers set up in mesh mode (AC88U and AC86U). You’ve got a TP-Link R470T+ ready to merge these connections. Are there any people with experience in this process? I’m sure the R470T+ can merge the networks, assign DHCP, and then feed the combined connection to your Asus routers as a regular internet source. Cheers!
You purchased that TP-Link device because it met your needs at the time. However, you opted for a different setup—using a separate router and configuring it normally. You’re asking why the TP-Link should handle DHCP and other router functions instead of managing them yourself. Additionally, you mentioned that having two links still limits download or streaming speeds with just one client.
Hi, the PFSense box isn’t showing up where I am. I prefer TP-Link devices since Asus routers are already handling AiMesh and offer good QoS. I’m expecting it won’t boost speed on a single connection—usually at home I manage streaming services like Netflix, YouTube, and online games with multiple connections.
Huh? You can install PFSense on any device. Try it on a NUC or an old machine. If it shows up as PFSense, you’ll see improved performance and better router capabilities. I believe Aimesh also functions in AP mode, and connecting via Ethernet to the AP works if possible.
