They fall within the same tp framework. If they restrict them, it’s likely they’d cease functioning. They probably wouldn’t invest in a major overhaul like they did for telecoms.

I assume it's merely a restriction on fresh purchases. If TP-Link intentionally disabled the gadgets, they'd likely provide a return or try to convince people to buy again

It's tough to take legal action against a company that can't function in the jurisdiction where it's being sued. However, I'm skeptical they'd release a firmware to render devices unusable—this could harm their public image.
