Total Commander
Total Commander
Experiencing trouble with updating files. My Excel sheet is stored on a memory stick, but when using Total Commander I encounter a red X against the hard disk version. Neither of these files is open or in use, and Total Commander doesn’t provide any explanation. The attributes only display 'a' and there’s no write protection on the hard disk version.
I require a method to update files, as this software was suggested to me. It sometimes functions when I select the file in both panels and both turn red.
UPDATE: I have made 4 changes to 4 Excel documents. The hard disk files still won’t update. I’m having to skip all of them.
I didn't expect Total Commander to exist anymore. I haven't checked it in 20 years.
I rely on Excel for around 1000 hours each year without any problems.
I'm unsure why you would require Total Commander at all when using or updating Excel files.
Could you explain in more detail what you're aiming to achieve and why you think Total Commander is the better choice over Windows' built-in file manager?
I need to manage numerous Word files and spreadsheets without relying on outdated versions. I'm looking for improved software options for this task. The current version is 10, released in June 2021. I cannot use the built-in Windows file manager for syncing between a hard disk and a USB drive.
It might be related to file protection or permissions in Windows. I’ve used it regularly for years without encountering this issue. Could you share a screenshot of when it fails? Try running it as an administrator and check if synchronization works then. Also, sending the contact email to the website’s developer should help resolve the problem.
I lack a phone number for them and haven't located a central commander page. Regarding file access, only the Archive _ _ a _ _ is visible.
