Top X570 boards ideal for overclocking
The top AM4 motherboards for RAM overclocking are those built with high-performance chipsets and robust cooling solutions. Look for models from brands like ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte, or Aorus, which offer features such as PCIe 5.0 support, ample VRM power, and stable BIOS updates.
I'm only familiar with the Dark Hero, which is causing some issues. It appears to have lower power limits compared to the others for one model. There are four RAM slots, which seems counterintuitive for memory management. I'm planning to buy the Unify X Max soon. It also has just two memory slots, but lacks the 90-degree rotation feature that EVGA offers. I tried the EVGA but couldn't locate it in my area. So, I'd rank the Dark Hero last. The other two are unclear to me, though I think they might perform better than Asus.
It seems the MSi B550 Unify X offers better RAM capacity compared to the X570 Unify X (Max). MSi has shared some overclocking content for these boards. It's unclear if this is universally accurate. I stumbled on those clips while looking into the X570 Unify X Max.
For regular daily boosts the performance gap between boards is bigger than between an X570 and a B550. When pushing to extreme speeds, B550 shines because of its BCLK support—it handles higher base frequencies without issues, unlike the X570 which struggles above around 102MHz. B550 works well in the 120MHz range, helping you squeeze out extra performance from chips or storage. For competitive testing, a 10-20MHz improvement can mean the difference between top and middle rankings. In everyday use, the effect is negligible, and trying to tweak BCLK for stability isn't recommended unless you're targeting high precision.
