Just installed Google Fiber and noticed my powerline connection is causing major slowdowns on my PC. I checked MoCa but it didn’t help. Looking for the top WiFi extender for a room setup with a PC and Xbox adapter. With the powerline I’m seeing around 25 up and down, while near the router it’s about 50. If I use WiFi, speeds jump to 400+ up and down. What’s the best option?

Secure an access point. Wi-Fi repeaters don’t perform well; Ubiquiti’s ACs deliver strong results. The card I’d choose is here: https://www.newegg.ca/asus-pce-ac55bt-b1...ption=asus wireless card&cm_re=asus_wireless_card-_-33-320-333-_-Product

https://store.google.com/us/product/goog...lsrc=aw.ds is this an access point device? Google gave me one of these for the main room and I remember them saying I can buy multiple for each room if I needed to

You can simply arrange them to form a mesh network that spans a large area.

It looks like you're considering a single puck for a room setup, with two more available. There aren't any downsides mentioned regarding stability—you should be able to reach at least 400 up and down smoothly.

The issue with MoCA likely stemmed from compatibility or configuration problems. Using the 2.1 adapters should allow 1Gbps, but if your Actiontec devices are still functioning well, the problem might be elsewhere—such as driver settings, network settings, or hardware limitations.

I purchased MoCa today but the coax cables didn’t activate properly. The light on the Moca box remained off, and after checking various settings, I realized that with DirectTV enabled, compatibility issues could arise due to the Deca adapter in your setup.

Ensure proper wiring by using a tone and probe. Connect the desired lines for MoCA directly in your coax box. This prevents them from being wired together with the satellite and avoids interference between systems.

From my perspective, mesh network options perform best. I received one via a promotion from my ISP. However, Wi-Fi boosters or extenders I've used before rarely provide significant gains. They may improve signal strength, but download and upload speeds typically remain unchanged.

You're unsure about finding a video on YouTube about this topic. It sounds like you're trying to understand how Google Fiber and MoCa networking work, especially after some confusion about direct TV integration. You might want to search for terms like "Google Fiber MoCa setup" or "direct TV with fiber optics" to locate relevant content. Let me know if you'd like help refining your search!
