Soon I hope I’ll move into the same building with my girlfriend. We both have limited budgets, so sharing her Wi-Fi could help lower our costs. I understand that apartment Wi-Fi can be weak, but are there better ways to get a stronger signal from another unit down the hall? Outdoor setups aren’t an option here, unfortunately.

It seems like a decent attempt, but they’ll likely already be using many access points to avoid signal overlap. Even with a strong channel, interference from walls and ceilings could weaken the connection. Plus, it might violate the usage terms.

Perhaps if you connected a wall, but with the loud surroundings it won't work. If you're up for the challenge, you could lay a 50m cat 6a cable and tape it down, but eventually someone will point it out and cause trouble.

Wouldn't it be better to relocate to the same building instead of changing apartments? That seems like a more practical approach.

If it had been an option, we would proceed; otherwise, it wasn't.
