I experienced a comparable issue with limited range, so I purchased the TP-LINK TL-WDN4800. It has really impressed me. Plus, it works out of the box on Linux. The performance has been very stable, and I haven’t needed to reposition anything. Although it’s an older model, newer versions are still available—just keep that in mind.
