Top voice assistant for gamers and everyday conversations
Hey everyone, we're searching for a new voice client. We've tried razer coms before, but some low-end PC users struggled with the low frame rate. Now we're using Teamspeak, which works well for us. The address is michaelstechgamer.com – welcome to new members! I’m not really into it, so I don’t want anything that tracks our chats. We’re looking for something simple but secure, not just TeamSpeak or Mumble. Most voice clients require hosting on one of the two platforms we already use, which can go down unexpectedly. Privacy and control are important to us. Plus, it should be free. I realized I mentioned Teamspeak a few times, but I’m not sure if it fits our needs. If you know of any alternatives that meet these requirements, please share – we’re all in this together!
Mumble is likely the best alternative you'll find. It's not overly heavyweight, though it does have some limitations. If you don't need a server, Google Hangouts might work. You can set up groups, host calls, chat during and outside of them, similar to Skype but fully browser-based. The Android version performs quite well.
Team Speak 3 is my top choice for voice client. I don’t run a server myself, yet it looks like you receive a standard free license allowing hosting of one virtual server with 32 slots.
What makes this low-end PC suitable is its ability to handle a conference call using a phone or tablet, especially with Google Hangout for group communication. The specs you mentioned—around 32kbps upload and minimal CPU usage—indicate it can run smoothly without overloading the system.
