Top tools for capturing gameplay and Skype sessions.
Currently I use shadowplay and audacity, but I’m not sure how to capture Skype chats clearly. I want the recording to stay distinct from my gameplay and voice. I’d also like options to combine everything smoothly or use a tool that records gameplay with separate audio tracks. FYI, I searched online but didn’t find anything specific. Thanks!
Shadowplay generally fulfills your needs, though it doesn't isolate audio channels.
I rely on OBS for video recording and Audacity is a great free option for audio capture. You can configure OBS to utilize different system components, and if you're familiar with ShadowPlay, you might be able to sync it with the same chip for recording. EDIT: I reviewed your query, but my response doesn’t directly address your needs. It’s possible I misunderstood your request. Would you like clarification on what you’re aiming for? OBS also lets you adjust microphone levels via Windows volume controls.
You might want XSplit Premium for dual-track audio. Alternatively, run video and audio through a single tool such as OBS or Dxtory, then use Audacity just for Skype calls. Set up a virtual audio cable for this setup.
To reach each source on separate tracks, you must use Dxtory combined with VirtualAudioCable. VAC enables the creation of virtual sources that can be recorded individually, such as Skype. Numerous guides are available for setting this up, but those resources are helpful for reference.
