Hi, I’m planning to use my 6700K with either a 970 or 980Ti to get back into gaming. I’m on a 2560x1080 LG 29-inch ultrawide monitor and haven’t played in a while—around six years. I’m excited to revisit the Tomb Raider series first. After that, I’d like to try something else. I really like RTS, adventure titles, and maybe FPS games (though I think I’ve played too many FPS already). I don’t want online games since I’m short on time. I’m hoping to enjoy the graphics and stories of games I missed recently. Perhaps a bit of online RTS could be fun too. My recent titles included Left 4 Dead, Red Alert 3, Tomb Raider Legend & Anniversary, Grid, Rainbow Six Vegas, Call of Justice, FEAR 2, etc. Thanks!

I tried Mirror's Edge on the PS3 but didn't enjoy it much. I also played Portal 1 and Crisis 1 and am excited about the sequels.

Certainly Assassin's Creed 2 and Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag (Unless you're in the series these are the most highly praised) - AC2 shines for its narrative and ACIV captures the stunning Caribbean during the golden age of piracy! (Beautiful). For a different take, Child of Light offers an engaging, visually appealing platforming RPG. GTA V delivers impressive quality on PC. Also NFS Most Wanted is free to play on Origin if you enjoy open-world racing titles.

I haven't played Assassin's Creed before, so I'm likely to go through every game. How much do the missions or story take up? I'm concerned it might be too long.

I've only played GTA V on a friends PC (I'm planning to get it though), but it's an awesome game to just stuff around in and blow stuff up for no reason or steal a Military Jet! hahaha

You missed out on quite a few gems. From Crisp to Assassins Creed, Mass Effect, Battlefield, Project Cars, Skyrim, Bioshock, Just Cause, Portal, Mortal Kombat, Far Cry, Tomb Raider, Dragon Age, SimCity, and more. You’ll get a surprise and probably nothing in your pocket.

You can easily obtain the latest humble bundle (the 15$ edition) which covers most Ubisoft titles you're interested in playing over the past few years.
