I focus on older machines. I don’t really enjoy the latest models. While I’m able to run virtual environments, using real hardware still feels more exciting, even with its limited graphics capabilities.

C&C Generals, Company of Heroes, CS Source, plus all GTAs from San Andreas through NFS Underground 1/2, Oblivion, Dramfall: The Longest Journey, and KotOR 1/2 are available. I also had a 6800XT unlocked to a 6800 Ultra with slightly reduced clock speeds.

I believe games from before the Core and Core 2 lines will perform well. However, with my old Pentium 4 3.2GHz HT, it struggled because the Ati Mobility Radeon 9000IGP would freeze after a few minutes of running Halo PC and CE at 640x480 in safe mode. That machine is faster than a 3.2GHz Pentium 4 Prescott, and they’re significantly newer, using a different manufacturing process and LGA775. Using Windows XP with web browsing felt very smooth too.

You can also check this list of games suited for less powerful PCs – http://www.mpcforum.pl/topic/738168-list...-slaby-pc/. The majority of these titles should work on your system, though it’s not an exhaustive collection. I’m updating it slowly. It’s posted in a Polish forum, but most games are in English. Most entries on the list have scores above 95.

Many small, independent titles perform well on modest hardware. Some may even function perfectly on basic systems.
