I was considering switching from your Dell Dimension 8200 to a Pentium 4 Gaming PC. I want to make sure it stays true to your setup, even if it looks different. Are there any games that perform well on a Pentium 4? Which graphics card would you suggest for those titles?

It was a bit old-school, but a machine with a Conroe dual-core processor was impressive compared to older models. They really pushed the limits with Prescott.

Various old-school releases will work perfectly on a Pentium 4. I suggest checking out Morrowind, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Star Wars: Jedi Knight II- Jedi Outcast, and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. Keep in mind that speed will rely on your graphics card—some titles might not launch at all if you use only the Pentium 4 chipset.

This title is among the most daring names in gaming, compatible with a P4 and works well with nearly all graphics cards released over the past few years.

Back then, the top choice was a 9800Pro, which set the standard for that era. Upgrading to an X800XT would have been feasible for around $20. It’s worth looking for models with better efficiency if your power supply isn’t up to the task. If I had owned that system, I’d have enjoyed running SNES/Genesis emulators and Command & Conquer titles, plus sports games from about 2002.

P4 refers to an AGP card, yes? Seek the top AGP card available. Modern lightweight games might fit. However, you'll need to run Linux to minimize effects on CPU and RAM usage.
