This classic mod from HL1 is still available for free on Steam. You can join various campaigns and it's worth playing. Strongly recommended!

This game combines elements from Dead Space, Silent Hill, Resident Evil and Outlast, creating a chilling experience. I found it really intense.

Silent Hill titles (notably 2 + 3) and Alan Wake* Outlast, Amnesia, Doorways, The Forest show promise yet remain distant from quality at the moment. A handful of strong recommendations stand out, leaning toward action horror rather than survival horror like Dead Space or STALKER. These are my top picks regardless of genre.

These updates haven't been posted yet, especially not for the Metro series. Once Metro Redux is released, it will be an excellent option.

I kept placing it in the action horror category, not survival horror. Still, it's definitely a great game.

Strict control of resources places it firmly in survival mode rather than action mode. Limited bullet options require trading or purchasing essential gear. Maintaining gas mask filters is crucial to avoid fatal exposure. Reload intervals are extended, affecting readiness. Cutscenes demand immediate responses without guidance, or consequences follow. You must manually operate generators to maintain lighting. Certain zones can only be cleared quietly—any noise or visibility risks instant death. Enemies emerge unexpectedly from wall and floor gaps, adding tension.

Alright, understood. I was planning to add Redux earlier, but it turns out this survival game is really impressive.

Certainly. Just head to any bustling city or large town and stroll around for about an hour. It usually triggers a range of reactions—racing heartbeat, chills, headaches, buzzing sounds, heightened worry, fear, panic, and stomach discomfort.
