For closer to classic survival, The Evil Within (it's like RE4 but much much better), but I think OP want's multiplayer, open world, sandbox type stuff (not something I really know about).
there are many varied survival-themed game modes on certain Minecraft servers. if you locate them, you'll find Minecraft Wasteland in some minigame servers. wasteland was originally a game for Arma 3, where players focus on surviving, acquiring weapons, and earning money. when the co-op character appears, games like Battleroyale, Wasteland, and Epoch become popular. long dark offers a solid single-player survival experience.
I really enjoy stranded deep, even when it's still in the early stages of development.
