I generally don’t enjoy Nexus mods since they require payment, or at least that’s what I recall from my last visit
Only pay for the premium service for quicker downloads. It’s free to use and still offers all their features. Just check out the videos I shared. They also have many exclusive mods not available elsewhere. Using the workshop means you can’t customize the mods or manage load priorities.
The load order is crucial and often the main reason for crashes when using mods. Check the video by Gopher, who explains modding Skyrim for beginners in detail. He covers everything you need, including setting up your load order—see the link below: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLE...NCqvO5MmKP. Watch it first before asking more questions; he’ll likely cover all the necessary info.
Right now I’m checking out Gopher’s content, it’s really useful. Would you like some top ten recommendations? My focus is on improving realism and overall quality—things like better graphics, maps, characters, etc. It’s not hard to say adult mods are welcome too. I don’t need anything massive; I only have a GTX 660 from EVGA with 2 GB DDR5 VRAM. Wish I could have splurged on a 780 instead.
Interestingly, trying to apply the unofficial HD resolution patch causes the game to crash immediately. It might be related to your monitor being a 720p display, and you're concerned about the price of upgrading without losing the advertised "HD 1080" promise.
