Hello! I recently got an iMac and haven’t been able to afford antivirus or malware protection for a while. I don’t stream much but often use unofficial sources. I’m worried about my new laptop breaking down, so what protection would be best?

I recommend avoiding torrenting. Instead, consider downloading antivirus software like ESET or malware protection tools such as Avast. I think only reputable free options are worth trying.

I currently rely solely on Windows Defender, which comes pre-installed with Windows 8/8.1/10. Before that, I used Microsoft Security Essentials on Windows 7. It tends to have fewer extra files and runs more smoothly compared to other antivirus options.

Thanks for the ideas so far. I hope I choose a good antivirus in the end, if it doesn’t cost too much.
