The 2600 should be okay as is. A 3700x would improve performance, but if you aim to avoid CPU bottlenecks and shift to GPU limitations, wait for the Ryzen 4000 series. There are whispers of an additional 20% gain. Give it about six months for previews, leaks, and decisions.
It seems like @Samfisher thinks your 2600 should hold up until you upgrade to a Ryzen 4k. Most games won't see much improvement with a Ryzen 3k, but a 3600 or 3700x would be ideal if you're committed to that level.
I expect a 3600 or 3600x and then just wait for the Ryzen 4k. (I planned for the 3700x but the performance boost isn’t huge, and you all sparked my interest with the upcoming Ryzen announcement.) I’m fine with spending $200–$250 for a solid upgrade, then reselling it for $100 and getting a 4000-series chip when it launches.
Await the 4000 series to boost your confidence in hitting the 165hz target. The 2600 to 3600 range offers a decent performance lift, though not sufficient for my view. From a gaming standpoint, the 3700X through 3950X provides minimal value at higher prices.
