I downloaded the free weekend fallout 4 for my PC and am considering purchasing it. It was running at a low frame rate of 14-20 fps on low settings. While I understand performance tweaks are possible, I don’t want the visuals to suffer. Are there any mods that could improve performance without compromising quality?

To achieve better performance, you may need to reduce graphics detail, but if your goal is only 20 frames per second, it’s possible to adjust settings. Using Intel HD Graphics can help optimize this.

Review your configuration. You're running an AMD A10 5700 with an Radeon 7660D graphics card.

Integrated visuals included. I wasn't aware the 5700 supported 7660d. My 7870k AMD APU runs around R7 250.

I can confirm it. I set it up on my 5820k and GTX1070, and it maintained around 20-30 fps no matter the resolution or settings. That's really disappointing. This is the first game where I've experienced such problems.

Occasionally check out some of the graphics cards. When CoD Ghosts launched, people struggled to maintain 60fps at 1080p with a Titan SLI setup (the top choice back then). Most recent titles seem poorly optimized overall, though Battlefield remains the only ones that consistently performed flawlessly.

Several titles stand out... Mad Max delivered a perfect show, the Tomb Raider revival performed well, and Planet Coaster seems more polished than its rivals. The Doom reboot impressed too. I was surprised by Witcher 3, Rocket League is solid, and Borderlands has been running smoothly. Your observation holds true—most current games still face unresolved performance problems. Arkham Knight and Fallout 4 are among the top ten in recent years.
