Looking for the top performance upgrade for your 7950X. Most boards are around $350, so I won’t exceed that budget. The Strix B650E-E looks solid, but it uses an X670E chipset and the Aorus offers great build quality. It’s been tough deciding, so any advice would be appreciated. My picks are:
- https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/B65...-rev-10#kf
- https://www.asus.com/motherboards-compon...-pro-wifi/

AM5 boards with decent VRM options deliver comparable results, so both the X670E Crosshair Gene and B650 Pro RS will provide similar benchmark performance. There are good reasons to opt for higher-end models, but ensure they meet your specific needs that others might overlook. In my experience, if I were assembling an AM5 system, I’d choose the B650E-E Strix. I need a POST code because I frequently run test bench tests across different boards, and both the Strix and Master offer this feature at a lower cost. Personally, I favor the Strix’s PCIe configuration over the Master’s, even though I don’t particularly like its slot layout. I’d prefer dual x8 or x16/x4 support from the CPU—something the X670E Carbon supports, though it comes at a higher price. On the other hand, if POST code isn’t essential, there are more affordable boards that match the performance and features you require. Even though the Strix would be ideal for me, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the best fit for everyone, and you might save money by selecting a more budget-friendly option. Notably, the X670E Prime shares many features with other B650E models, so switching to it wouldn’t offer significant advantages unless you need its specific components. Also, confirm your target is a workstation—AM5 is best suited for demanding tasks like rendering or virtualization, not for gaming setups, where a 13th-gen CPU would be more appropriate.
