I discovered a fresh OS for that project. It's Linux Mint Mint. I installed it using the Universal USB Installer, and downloaded an ISO from www.linuxmint.com Universal-USB-Installer-1.9.7.0.exe

New Linux distributions may struggle on older hardware. Consider going for a lightweight option such as Lubuntu or search for a lighter alternative online.
