Avast! offers a great extension for most browsers, perfect for enthusiasts. Regarding general AV protection... I've relied on Avast! for years and really enjoy it.

As long as you're using Malwarebytes, you don't necessarily need another antivirus. Still, having an antivirus alongside Malwarebytes works well for me—over eight years now. Anyone who says choose one or the other is just biased; I've got the proof.

I generally dislike antivirus software because they slow down the PC. You can always spot the difference. Windows Defender works fine for me since I’m familiar with what I download. HOWEVER, if I have to install one, I pick ESET. It offers strong protection and is more efficient. Among the free options, I favor Avira, which uses fewer resources than Avast!.

Avoid getting Internet Security, opt for antivirus instead. Believe it, you'll appreciate it later.

Visit avtest.org to explore their evaluations and assessments. That's how I stay updated—I use Bitdefender, because I don’t need to pay for it.

I manage it myself, though I had to move away from ESET for some reason.

Internet access requires antivirus software; we can't determine what malware and viruses are hiding. Every internet security comes with built-in protection. Why would you need additional malware protection?
