I mainly rely on Windows Server 2012R2 for my NAS since my entire network uses AD, which makes things simpler.

I saved the document to the HDD, and the monitor linked to the NAS began displaying a series of error messages. Later, the PC restarted and the hard drive disappeared from connection, then it was connected again and the HDD scan revealed one bad sector.

I believe your drive might be faulty before this happened. I've been using Freesus for years without any issues.
