You have a Beastly Router with a 250Mbps down/15Mbps up connection, but you're facing performance issues from Comcast. Upgrading to a modem is necessary, and you want one that works well without being too expensive. Look for a modem in the same speed range—ideally around 100Mbps or higher—to ensure smooth streaming and browsing. Budget-friendly options like the TP-Link Archer AX200 or Netgear Nighthawk R7000 are solid choices that balance performance and cost.

CM600, SB6183 or any Docsis 3.1 model will suffice. Avoid 32 channel Docsis 3.0 units such as the SB6190 and CM700 since they contain the Intel Puma 6 chip and are faulty. I’m leaning toward the CM600, which costs around $90 on Amazon now. It’s a 24x8 modem capable of supporting most speed tiers except Gigabit.

The idea of "best" depends on personal preference. You'd likely need to spend several thousand dollars, let alone a hundred thousand, to find what you're looking for. Even the best options aren't the top choice available. Consider focusing on more affordable alternatives like "best modem for x price."

I had no idea you could purchase your own modem. Those Comcast emails seem like they're trying to push you toward an upgrade.

Here in the US Federal Law gives the customer the right to buy their own equipment because our ISPs Charge a monthly rental fee (Not all but most). If the OP is using the a 4x4 or 8x4 cable modem then on the Comcast network they are not using the right modem. A 8x4 modem on the Comcast network can do a max of about 220 Mbps. So any faster speed tiers need a min of a 16x4 on up. The more channels support the better your experience will be, this is due to being able to lock on to more channels which means if one becomes over saturated, your internet experience wont degrade.
