That's a reasonable assessment. I’d be sure to suggest setting up Gentoo as a side endeavor, but not as a primary system.

I haven't tried it, so I can't confirm for sure. It seems Kali isn't recommended for desktop setup.

The only suggestion I’d make is to stick with one of the larger distributions. This should improve support significantly. There are also countless spinoffs from spinoffs distributions, but they don’t really make sense to me at all. I’ve tried over 35 distributions in the past six months, and I have a small list that I believe performs best. Of course, this is just based on my personal opinions.
