Hey there, Tom! I’m searching for a decent router that fits your style. You want something white and black, WiFi 6 support, compact size, and it should be affordable. Perfect for your current setup only. Looking forward to seeing some great options! -TomPot

What budget matters is the features you expect. A wireless access point might be enough. WiFi 6 isn’t required if your devices are nearby. A WiFi 5 (AC, wave 2) works just fine. The Ubiquiti U6-Lite handles WiFi 6 well and supports skins. The U6-LR isn’t needed in sparse areas. For a nicer look or desk placement, go with the UAP-flexHD (WiFi 5/AC, wave 2).

I’m focusing on a non-wireless setup. Did you know there are some wired alternatives available?

How quickly is your web connection? Since it falls into the Gigabit category, performance might be slightly affected.

Not sure why you asked for WiFi 6, then. Unless I missed something, what you’re looking for is a simple switch?

Honestly, WiFi 6 is starting to become more common and more devices are being launched with it. If you're purchasing a router now or planning to do so later, WiFi 6 is definitely worth considering. It’s something you can expand on for the next few years or longer, depending on how long your current router remains in use. Personally, I’m holding off on switching to a new router until WiFi 6E is available. Still, it makes sense to opt for WiFi 6 right now.
