Hello, I'm working on setting up a server for my homelab with multiple functions including a secondary NAS, local AI server, Minecraft/astroneer/Gmod, BOINC, and other tasks. What OS would suit best? I've thought about Truenas Scale but some apps won't work with Docker. Linux servers were an option though they might lose a web UI for the NAS. Windows was also on the list but I dislike the remote desktop latency. I've checked HexOS but haven't decided to buy it yet. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
I haven’t tested it yet, but Red Hat offers Cockpit for managing web-based servers. There are likely other solutions as well; having a web UI seems to be the main barrier to using a Linux distribution. https://www.redhat.com/en/blog/intro-cockpit
