I'm using ClamWin, but it doesn't include everything I need. So far, it isn't the top AV option. I also have free Malwarebytes installed because it doesn't catch malware or adware.

My usual combo is version 1.6 of spybot for the "imunization" (no teatimer), malwarebytes for the scans and if the person is really malware prone I use Avira... it's a little anoying but it's pretty efective in extreme cases

Avira is decent, but for the absolute top security at no cost, opt for Avast. Avoid Malwarebytes—it has several issues.

I employ Windows Defender and perform a malwarebytes check periodically. No problems have occurred, or are documented.

Actually, I don’t think antivirus programs are useful to me. I’m not sure how they could be saying that.
