The top flying sim game is often praised for its realistic flight mechanics and immersive experience. For gear under $100, look for budget-friendly headsets or controllers that offer decent audio and comfort.

My suggestions for equipment are well above $100. Consider a budget joystick until you can afford something better. I rely on FSX for my flight simulations. (I’m a real-world pilot, which is why I mentioned that.)

Invest a little more and secure a Saitek X52.

FSX or Prepa3d for SURE. Acquire some Saitek equipment, including joysticks or complete yokes. I began with the Logitech ATK3, which worked great until August when I received my Saitek items and additional add-ons. Add-ons are essential; otherwise FSX will appear unappealing, with messy plans and stuff. My suggestions: purchase during the holidays for around 70-80% off. PMDG, Captainsim, ORBX are good choices, and look for free software or at simviation.com.

It wouldn't be too bad if I missed the pedals. I'm eager to learn how to fly, but I don't have the funds yet, so this is the best I can do right now.

Skip the pedals and jump straight into FSX, but save up—it's definitely worth it. I wouldn't miss a thing.

In my view, flight simulators and Hawx are among the top options.
