For $5 or less, I think today is the final day of their major discount, so I’d grab something affordable and fun. Extra credit if it’s Linux-friendly.

I like PlanetSide2 for free, Fortnite (not Steam, just a free PUBG) and Unreal Tournament 2017 (free PUBG plus Black Ops).

Sword with Sauce is an excellent choice for around $6. It's still under development, but it offers the toughest stealth mechanics I've encountered. The developers are likely planning to introduce multiplayer soon, which could significantly enhance the experience. Overall, it delivers a highly rewarding gameplay feel.

I play five popular games, three of which are free-to-play. My favorites include Planetside 2, Skyrim DC Universe Online, Fallout 4, Robocraft, and Champions Online. I think Champions Online was the most enjoyable until they stopped updating it five years ago. PlanetSide 2 comes next, and I’ve recently bought PUBG, though it doesn’t match the fun I get from PlanetSide 2.

I just started playing Hearts of Iron IV and it's really engaging, though challenging. Fallout 4 works well with mods, while PUBG is enjoyable but only runs smoothly with modifications. My CPU struggles to maintain 60fps on high settings with an I7-7700 and 1060.

Fallout 2 is available for $10, but I downloaded it from GOG instead of Steam.

I picked up Nekopara Vol. 1 for $4.99 from Steam awhile back. It is $10 now but I believe they still run occasional sales on it. You can get Vol. 0 for like $2.99 or something. It doesn't have an official Linux port but Vol. 1 is listed as gold on WineDB. I have a fair amount of visual novels in my wish list that often drop to around the $5 mark. I have such a backlog of games that I haven't bothered picking them up but because of this, I see their sale activity. I did manage to pick up GTA IV: Complete Edition and Fading Hearts for $8.99 (only four dollars over $5 lol). How did you manage that? @Radium_Angel I see Civ III is only $4.99 on Steam right now.

Steamworld Dig 2 offered a lot of enjoyment. It's priced at $20 but provides good value. Initially it resembles Starbound/Terra, but the experience differs significantly. You don't navigate randomly generated landscapes; instead, you uncover a thoughtfully designed environment through digging and unlocking unique abilities that consistently shift your approach and travel options. Fast travel points become available after digging deep enough, reducing unnecessary backtracking and ensuring continuous discovery of new areas. The game features an engaging narrative, appealing visuals, and meticulous attention to detail with numerous hidden spots and collectibles. I played it on Switch, but it's also available on Steam. Extremely enjoyable!
