Hey there, I've been thinking about the top CPU stress tests for workstation use. I used Aida 64 FPU before, but it still causes issues with software like Pro Tools that have sudden spikes and can crash my DAW even when it runs smoothly. It seems Prime95 might be a safer bet than other options, though I'm not sure which one is best for you personally. Also, your 9900KS is great for gaming at 5.2 GHz, but for tasks like Avid Pro Tools or Adobe, 4.9 GHz looks more practical.

Prime95 Small FFT and Cinebench R23 consistently showed the best signs of stability for me. Allow sufficient time for the system to reach operating temperature, particularly with liquid cooling—what seems acceptable at 50°C could fail at 80°C.

Use cinebench and Intelburntest for the most precise evaluation. Stability can be confirmed by gradually reducing your load. Sometimes crashes still occur in games due to varying instructions, so I lower my OC slightly when issues arise.

I thought similarly before, yet once I started using Avid's Pro Tools it would crash quickly under that voltage. Games work okay but it becomes unstable during creative tasks. It might be because my VCCIO and system agent are too low. I adjusted them to 0.95 and 1.05, but my RAM is running at 3200 MHz XMP Trident Z.

Never exceed more than 1.2v Vccio or SA per unit. Unless you're pushing memory overclocking—then maybe go beyond it, but it's wise to lower the voltage to maintain stability. Also, certain boards might push these numbers too high, leading to issues. Asus is a solid choice for this, though some setups can become unstable.

These digital audio workstations (DAWs) behave unpredictably when your CPU lacks enough resources to run smoothly. Running a CPU stability test with CineBench won’t guarantee stable performance when using Avid’s Pro Tools.
