Essentially, all the 6-core 1366 CPUs share the same chip design. From a performance standpoint, they’re quite comparable and offer similar overclock potential. What varies is the specific configuration—most 1366 chips are essentially fixed in terms of features. However, you can still boost their speed by raising the base clock, a method that works more consistently than on today’s systems because the PCIe controller is removed. For details, check out this review:

Sure thing, I appreciate the details. I've refined the focus by removing the i7 990 reference and clarifying that it's the CPU settings that are affected. The changes emphasize the bus speed adjustment on my i7 920 and highlight the limitations when pushing overclocking limits.

During BCLK overclocking, you need to tweak the memory multiplier to keep your memory within acceptable limits. Avoid increasing by just 1 MHz at a time. It’s simpler to reach 166MHz than 150MHz.

The system purchased around 13 years ago (late 2008) likely uses an outdated BIOS that doesn’t support the 2010–2011 CPUs. Be sure to upgrade the BIOS to the most recent version before installing the new CPU. For overclocking assistance, you can post your questions in this thread.

I understand, I'm restarting now to verify if it's possible in the BIOS. I reviewed the information you shared and learned about the flashing process in the BIOS. I've created a complete backup of the PC just in case. Searching for a more recent BIOS seems worthwhile—checking the MSI website might help. Your tip was really helpful, and I appreciate the link to the forum thread!
