Hey there! I’ve got a list of parts for my PC right now. It includes an Asus TUF B550 with AMD 5800X, an RTX 3070TI, and several SSDs and cases. My goal is to upgrade, especially focusing on the CPU since that seems like the best place to start. Any suggestions or recommendations would be great! Thanks!

The budget reflects the current situation and choices made. The 5800X remains a solid gaming chip, while the 3070 Ti isn’t extremely fast by GPU standards, so noticeable performance differences are unlikely. Are there specific games you play that seem to rely heavily on CPU power? In short, is your system functioning as intended?

On Amazon the RTx 4070 is available at a lower price with extra VRAM (four gigabytes more) and improved performance. Be aware that you won't be able to upgrade your CPU, RAM, or motherboard further in the future.

The 5800X remains a solid choice for gaming, capable of handling 3090 series cards effortlessly.

CPU isn’t aiming to exceed $300 US. I’m facing issues with my two monitors. When I record while playing COD, FPS drops and the screen tears sometimes. My main monitor is a Samsung G7 and the second is an ASUS 4K. I found some articles calling the 5800X a “budget” CPU. I thought $300 was enough for my needs but if I really need it, I could just upgrade. My goal is to have both monitors running smoothly.

I thought keeping my 3070ti made sense because EVGA no longer makes them. Yet if it offers significantly better performance, I’d consider upgrading.

I understand the feeling, but honestly, you're unlikely to see a noticeable improvement in performance from upgrading anything besides your GPU.

I'm checking how the gameplay is being recorded. I assume you're using Obs and the NVIDIA encoder, not CPU encoding, since even high-end systems can see performance drops. Just because a CPU is budget doesn't mean it's poor. A 7800X3D is considered one of the best gaming CPUs available and is often seen as a great value. The 5800X3D was also a top choice for gaming a couple of years ago and remains strong today. It shouldn't have any issues running games smoothly.

Hi yes I run through OBS and encode through my GPU. I only notice the lag when I run both of my monitors if I turn one off it runs much smoother. And true I see your point with the budget opinions! Thank you I appreciate the honesty! I was just going to wait until the next gen GPUs as I’ve read really all 40 series gpu are pretty close to the 30 series
