On a minor point, I don’t know much about your motherboard, but it seems people can push 4.4ghz on it, though anything above 4.5ghz becomes unstable. Still, a stable 4.5ghz gives a nice performance boost.
For a quick question, which coin are you mining? If you don’t mind me asking, I mine ZCash personally.
😛
Well mining won't use 5% of you're CPU, its entirely GPU bound.
If you 'must' try & overclock the CPU on that board then you want a 120/140mm downblower not a tower cooler.
The issue is they cost roughly twice as much.
You've got a bad imbalance here though $550-600 worth of GPU & PSU & $120 worth of CPU & motherboard.
It's a configuration that makes very little sense to me personally.
Mining won't consume 5% of your CPU power; it's mainly dependent on the GPU. If you need to overclock the CPU on that board, a 120/140mm downblower is better than a tower cooler. The problem is they're about twice as expensive. You also have a significant imbalance—$550-600 for the GPU and PSU, plus $120 for the CPU and motherboard. This setup doesn't seem very logical to me. I just bought the GPU and PSU and plan to upgrade the rest later. The motherboard and cooler are at least okay.
I own an older model of this Zalman CPU cooler and achieved a stable overclock on an FX6300 at 4.1Ghz using a mediocre 760G motherboard from Gigabyte. The cooler operates quietly, though it doesn't actively cool the VRMs. I've managed cable organization well and installed one front intake fan and one rear exhaust fan. The PSU also handles airflow by drawing in air and expelling it through the back.
