Hello, what’s the top processor choice for a $1000-1400 build with an RX 6600? You’ll need something strong enough for CAD work, programming in VB/Java, moderate virtualization, and high-end gaming. Your preferences suggest a solid mid-range CPU paired with the MSI PRO B660M-A DDR4 Micro ATX LGA1700 board. Let me know if you’d like more details!

Did you know the budget covers graphics cards as well? Which county are we talking about?

We require significantly more details. The top CPU choice is the 12900ks, but that represents a large portion of your overall budget. 3800x3d comes next (they often trade positions), and it’s much cheaper, though we need clearer insight into all components you intend to purchase... you can evaluate the entire budget with a single GPU acquisition.

The key focus is on the relevant specifications. If targeting a gaming device like the 12400F, that’s the main point. Otherwise, higher options such as 12600(K)(F) or 12700(K)(F) apply.

Currently, gaming puts the biggest strain on my PC. I’m looking for a device that handles both gaming and CAD smoothly without lag or overheating. What’s the performance of the 12400F for programming and CAD?

To all who are wondering, this is the current motherboard that I have been thinking about getting: MSI PRO B660M-A DDR4 Micro ATX LGA1700 Motherboard. I am still open to other ones though.

It's tough to judge without full details, but the 12600 (or F is less important) seems fitting since it offers 10 cores. For AMD, the 3800X3D looks solid too.
