I need to find the best option within the budget for Intel 10th and 11th generation i5 and i7 CPUs, especially since the 10th gen models typically don’t include an integrated GPU.

Choose between the top options: secure a 10600k for gaming, or opt for 10700k for productivity. Gen 10 models include an iGPU, with the KF versions likely different. Gen 11 offers PCIe4 support but provides minimal extra performance compared to Gen 10, unless you prefer Gen 4 NVMe SSDs.

In fact, the 11th generation models showed solid improvements in productivity tasks. The 10900k stands out as the top performer due to its additional cores. The 10700k might be acceptable if the price drops significantly, but the 11700 (or k, f, kf) offers better performance. For gaming purposes, all i5 CPUs are suitable depending on the budget. The 11400 matches the 10600k in several titles, though it lags in others. The 10400 also performs well.

I’m not after a unlocked chipset; I’m just heading for the B460 board, and I don’t believe investing extra for PCIe Gen4 right now is the best choice.

For using the iGPU, opt for Gen 11 fully—Xe graphics completely outperform Gen 10. If you're not sure, check out Ryzen options before buying a CPU since they offer strong performance at similar prices to their Core models.

I agree, we'll likely adopt a dedicated graphics card eventually, but for now I'm hoping to get some time using the Intel iGPU. I'm a bit excited if I can manage spending a few months on it before moving on. At first, I was just a little doubtful about the 10400F, but now I understand that F versions don't include an integrated GPU. What's the performance gap between the 10400 and the 10400F?

I understand Ryzen provides a lot of features, but I’m not planning to upgrade RAM just yet. My current setup has a 2666Mhz chip and I’m using Intel right now. Switching to Ryzen wouldn’t require changing over 3000+ RAM modules.

The cost is an important factor, and in my area 10700k and 10900k are about 40% lower than their 11th Gen models. 10700 and 10700k match in pricing, while 11700 aligns more with 11700k. Ultimately, regional pricing plays a big role. Additionally, if the buyer secures a strong CPU, they might be able to upgrade the 10700K later and achieve better performance than 11700.

Slower RAM doesn't harm performance, it merely reduces speed.

Sure, I just considered keeping the rest of the parts and switching to a different processor and motherboard.
