Users have shared stories about furmark affecting card performance, but with my Gigabyte GTX 650ti boosted to 247MHz/87mv core voltage I managed to run furmark using msi kombuster. This setup worked smoothly without any graphics issues. I kept the fans at full speed and reached a peak temperature of 49°C during heavy use. The 970 model performed differently; the most stable setting I found recently was 150MHz with 112% power and a memory OCd of 450MHz. At 100% fan speed, temperatures climbed steadily above 70°C. Furmark is ideal for pushing your system to its limits (the version bundled with msi kombuster) since it applies the greatest stress to both CPU and GPU. I noticed a 51% bottleneck on my Core 2 Duo at 4GHz when running furmark.
It's not meant to check for stability during an overclock. Some users found the GPU worked well in Furmark but failed right after playing a game.
I often rely on Prime95 but there are rumors about its reliability. I’m not sure why people say that. I’m really confused about this.
Real-world results matter more than lab benchmarks since they better reflect actual performance. The most effective way to push a system is by running tough games on high settings while keeping the fan at a safe speed, ensuring adequate cooling when temperatures rise. If your GPU and CPU are overheating, consider cleaning the coolers or replacing the thermal paste.
