Hey there, newcomer to the LinusTech forums! It's great to see someone revisiting the community after enjoying the tips for a while. I'm excited to join this space that Linus built and help others. For your friend's situation, I understand the need for a PCIe wireless card since his gaming PC lacks built-in Wi-Fi. After browsing Newegg without much success, could you suggest some reliable options that work well with gaming setups? Your guidance would be really appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Most options using Intel's AX200 or AX210 should work. Even without a WiFi 6/6e router, they seem to function adequately on WiFi 5 without a big price hike. It depends on your needs, but Wi-Fi usually doesn't offer the lowest latency for games that rely on it, like online FPS.

Thanks for the feedback. I understand LAN will enhance your gaming experience, but the router's distance from the computer makes running Ethernet through the house impractical (and moving it isn't an option). Most games my friend plays don’t need ultra-low latency, so it’s a good point to consider. Appreciate the helpful advice!

Thank you for your feedback. I understand LAN could be a better hardware choice here. However, the original question didn’t mention using the LAN port as a possible fix. This is because: 1) the router is too distant from my computer, and 2) running Ethernet through my friend’s house isn’t viable.
