CrashPlan offers free local backup, and for offsite storage it’s around $8 per month. I haven’t used it in more than a year, but I enjoyed it when I did.

Are you suggesting copying the failing drive to an external one for use as the primary storage? That isn’t feasible in Windows due to its restrictions on removable drives. I’d advise purchasing a replacement hard drive immediately, since losing data could cause serious problems.

The top choice is simply to restore it. FreeFileSync works well, and Synctoy 2.1 is another solid alternative.
