Many of my backgrounds are images, but changing them to solid colors wouldn't make much of a difference.

I do this on my phone for the same reason, I could see myself doing it the same if I had an OLED monitor, but otherwise, its a reminder that I don't. Still waiting on a 32" 4K +240Hz OLED to come out, which I'll buy, even if its $3000.
