I consider myself cautious online, though not having any antivirus at all can be risky. My main concern with antivirus tools is they often bombard me with updates and virus alerts. I also don’t want them slowing my system down or running in the background unnecessarily. From a lightweight and unobtrusive perspective, which software would you suggest?

MalwareBytes is an excellent antivirus solution. I’ve relied on it consistently and appreciate its performance. It avoids intrusive pop-ups unless specific settings are activated, which alert you about potential threats blocking web access.

Malwarebytes isn't an antivirus solution, and it shouldn't be treated as one.

I rely on Bitdefender for real-time defense and use Malwarebytes for free weekly checks. I prefer not to buy antivirus since I'm a student and want to save money.

Guide to Antivirus & Malware: I’m using Avast! in Gaming/Silent mode for live protection, plus Malwarebytes for zero-day and manual checks. It’s important to enable alerts so you’re warned about threats and updates—without them, you might miss a virus from the file you open, and an outdated antivirus won’t help much.
