Hey, after six months using the ASUS ROG Strix Z790-F, one RAM slot stopped working and didn’t show anything. Swapping it to another slot fixed everything. The biggest issue is that the motherboard warranty isn’t valid since I added a CPU contact plate. Looking for the best M.2 slot for an i9 13900K? I’ve had to undervolt it to keep temperatures under control.

Examine your CPU pins using a magnifier glass; you might have bent them. Capturing clear images with a quality camera should be fine too—keep the camera parallel to the socket and focus on the pins. A supplier shouldn’t swap a motherboard due to bent pins. Still, it’s not worth it; the motherboard functions properly otherwise, right? Which contact frame did you fit? The inexpensive ones are reliable, but the thermal heavy-duty version needs some expertise. Edited November 14, 2023 by leclod

Thanks for sharing your experience. Your EK-Nucleus AIO CR360 Lux D-RGB is performing well under heavy workloads and low voltages. It keeps temperatures below 92°C even at around 380W, and maintains a stable 72°C during demanding games like Cyberpunk or RDR2 Ultra. Since you haven’t tried resetting or repasting the CPU, I’ll give it a shot—appreciate your advice!

They probably wouldn't see the screws being applied, and the marks would be barely noticeable.

It's possible you bent the pins even though the thermal paste was fresh and functioning well. Over time, repeated stress might cause the pins to warp. You could try removing the CPU to check for bent pins. Your experience with the $12 contact plate working fine is helpful—avoid over-tightening screws. Thanks for your advice.

Sure, I'll check it out if I can't figure it out on my own.

Repasting doesn't affect CPU pins. However, altering a contact frame can impact them. Which frame did you use? The inexpensive options are reliable, while the high-end thermal version demands more expertise. Edited November 14, 2023 by leclod

I also tried the inexpensive contact plate, around $12, and it performed well. I didn’t over-tighten the screws, and it’s been functioning properly for about five to six months without any issues.
